Ducks, ducks and more ducks!
We got our first ducks when the people that bought Koko ask if we'd like to
have their 2 Indian Runner Ducks. Of course we said yes..not knowing what an
addiction was about to follow! Thus Doofus and Roofus pictured below
entered our lives.
Then because we became so attached to them so quickly we decided that
they needed a house and pen to protect them from predators.. so our free
ducks acquired their $100 enclosure complete with house and swimming
pool!
And then since the pen was awful big for just two ducks they acquired
$40 worth of duck buddies..much to their disgust! How dare we bring in
ducks! They are still convinced that they are chickens! Eventually though
all settled down together...though somewhat segregated!
We now have muscovy's, call ducks, mallard crosses, and black east indys
ducks. And a second pen because the first one got too crowded! The muscovy
and indian runner ducks are very prolific layers so we expect to have ducklings
in the spring from them and we hope to have some call duck and black east
indy ducklings in the spring too!
