Rocky earned his nickname by the way he
entered life..with a hard right hook and a strong
will to survive! We were checking on Brandy
when her water broke and one tiny white hoof
appeared..upside down! We immediately called
our vet and got her up and walking. After a few
minutes of walking his foot popped back in and
came back out slightly rotated. More walking,
lots of prayers and back in it went and back out
with yet more rotation. When our vet arrived he
found that Rocky had mostly rotated but had one
leg stuck over his head still. He straightened that
leg and out popped our foal. Brandt says that
Rocky is only the second foal hes seen that
survived after trying to enter life upside down.

Thanks to the knowledge gleaned from the
wonderful ladies on the yahoo foalwatch list, a
terrific vet, a brave and trusting mare willing to
walk despite the pain just because Den ask it of
her, and the power of prayer we have our perfect
dream foal.
